Challenge

A client’s roof has been slowly leaking around their chimney. It is very important to remove all of the old roofing materials before installing a new roof. For a long time, it was common practice to install a new roof on top of the first or even second layer of shingles. The shingle manufacturers have since changed their stance and will no longer warranty shingles if that is done. There are a slew of issues related to installing multiple layers. Guaranteed Roofing will always strip all of the old felt & shingles off before installing the new roof. We take plenty of pics for the homeowner to see the condition of the wood decking & replace any rotten or bad wood. Here are a few pics of the leaking roof and the rotten wooden roof decking beneath the shingles. If we just did a layover, the nails would not anchor into the rotten wood, causing problems down the road.

Solution

We removed all of the old roofing materials before installing the new roof. This job required re-nailing loose wood & replacing the bad or rotted wood for a solid foundation before new roof installation. Their chimney leaks are a thing of the past.
